What the other Iowa teams are up to
September 13, 2007
The Drake Bulldogs (2-0) and the UNI Panthers (2-0) are coming off some fairly impressive wins.
With the Bulldogs averaging 36 points per game, their defense has only allowed 19 points per game – including last week’s 45-14 victory over Waldorf.
The Bulldogs will next travel up to Wisconsin-Platteville and take on the 1-0 Pioneers. The Pioneers relied on the horsepower of junior running back Mike Genslinger, as he scored the only two touchdowns in a 16-6 game. The Bulldogs are not favored very heavily in this game by me. The Bulldogs have struggled with the run in their two games, allowing 483 yards on the ground. Don’t expect the Bulldog defense to stick it to Genslinger, especially when their rushing defense lacks.
The UNI Panthers head to South Dakota State University, to take on the Jackrabbits. The Jackrabbits (0-2) are looking for their first win.
The stealthy speed of Northern Iowa’s receiving corps, lead by senior Victor Williams with 144 through the air, have accumulated 484 yards in their two previous games, which will stretch the Rabbits’ defense to the brink of yet another South Dakota State loss.
