Despite loss, team racked up impressive stats

Iowa State was unable to hold a fourth-quarter lead against the Toledo Rockets on Saturday. The Cyclones had their chances, however, and still had a number of good statistics come out of the game. Here is a breakdown, by the numbers, of Iowa State’s 36-35 loss.

Running back J.J. Bass ran for a 1-yard touchdown on fourth down to give Iowa State a 35-24 lead with 5:25 left in the game. Toledo then scored on a kickoff return for a touchdown and the recovery of a bad punt snap to win the game, 36-35.

Number of yards given up on six kickoff returns, including an 82-yard return for a touchdown by Toledo running back Jalen Parmele. Iowa State ranks 114th out of 119 Div. I teams in kickoff return defense.
