The Iowa State wrestling program has done a 180-degree turn from year one to year two under coach Kevin Dresser.

The National Wrestling Coaches Association took notice of the success, naming Kevin Dresser to its annual National Coach of the Year award.

This season Dresser and his staff helped nine athletes advance to the NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh. Last season, the Cyclones fielded one athlete in the tournament.

Iowa State saw more success at the Big 12 Tournament this season, and as a result, Dresser also earned the honor of Big 12 Coach of the Year.

Outside of Dresser, Iowa State has had four other coaches named the NWCA National Coach of the Year: Harold Nichols (three times), Cael Sanderson, Bobby Douglas and Jim Gibbons.
