A two-car collision occurred in heavy traffic at Lincoln Way and Wilmoth Avenue at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, leaving behind tiny shards of broken glass to glint in the high noon sun.
A black GMC Jimmy rear-ended a white Kia Aspire and spun around, clipping a green minivan, leaving the Aspire totaled. Adam Joens, the driver of the GMC, said the Aspire stopped suddenly.
“The guy stopped suddenly, and I couldn’t stop in time,” he said.
The male driver and passenger in the Kia were taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center, with no life-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Rory Echer of Ames Police. The driver of the green minivan, an unidentified female, was also taken to the hospital with shoulder injuries, Echer said.
“The Aspire was stopped – we don’t know if it was taking a left or a right – signaled and was hit by the Jimmy,” Echer said.
