Manns, Ferrie to serve three-game suspensions

The ISU volleyball team will be without its starting setter and a key reserve for the first three matches of the season.

Sophomore Kaylee Manns and senior Meghan Ferrie will be serving suspensions for separate operating while intoxicated citations that occurred during the off-season.

The suspensions are laid out by the student-athlete conduct code.

Coach Christy Johnson said the team is trying to put the whole thing behind it while, at the same time, learning from it.

Both players said they felt they failed their teammates and that the whole experience was an eye-opener that they never want to repeat.

“I let so many people down,” Manns said. “I embarrassed myself, my team and Iowa State. It is the worst feeling in the world and I would never wish this upon anyone.”

Ferrie also fractured a bone in her foot recently, and would have been unavailable regardless.
