There was a two-car collision at the intersection of Elwood Drive and Mortensen Road on Tuesday evening.

A white Pontiac sedan, traveling southbound on Elwood, collided with a brown GMC 500 traveling north and making a left-hand turn on Elwood.

There were no drugs or alcohol involved, said Patrol Officer Adam McPherson of the Ames Police Department.

The driver of the Pontiac, a female, was transported from the scene to Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Ames Police did not have the name of the driver of the Pontiac.

The driver of the GMC 500, Ian Arvesen, junior in finance, sustained no injuries.

Dorothy Sorenson, an eyewitness, was in the minivan directly behind the Pontiac.

“I am shaken up. It could have been me,” Sorenson said. “I have kids in my car, and when you can see the damage done, it’s a really big eye-opener.”
