Governor unveils job Web site

DES MOINES &#8212 Gov. Chet Culver unveiled an improved Web site on Wednesday for people seeking jobs in the state of Iowa.

State officials want the site, www.iowajobs.org, to be a one-stop-shop for employment opportunities in the state. Culver joined other state officials at a press conference to tout the Web site, a joint effort of Iowa Workforce Development, the Iowa Department of Economic Development and the Iowa Careers Consortium.

“We in state government have a responsibility to find the workers our economy needs.” Culver said in a statement. “This Web site will allow individuals both in and out of Iowa to find the most complete listing of high-quality jobs in the state.”

Culver said he was encouraged that job offerings from some of the state’s biggest employers.

This includes John Deere, MidAmerican Energy, and Principal Financial Group, which could now be easily accessible by the public by logging on to the state’s Web site.
