ISU softball coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler will enter her third season as head coach with a class of six players, after she signed JUCO transfer Jacquelyn Beatty.

Beatty, a junior infielder, comes from McLennan Community College in Texas, and should add a solid bat to the lineup.

Last season, Beatty earned first team All-North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference honors after she batted .369, drove in 49 runs, and hit two home runs.

“Adding Jacquelyn will really help our depth in the infield,” said Gemeinhardt-Cesler in a press release. “She knows how to win and has good quickness and a great arm. She will be a nice addition to our team.”

Beatty joins the 2007-08 recruiting class of outfielder Carleigh Berry, catcher Renae Cooper, infielder Carrie Monroe, catcher Sara Stinson and pitcher Rachel Zabriskie.

Last season, the Cyclones went 24-40, and lost in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament in Gemeinhardt-Cesler’s second season as head coach.
