Summer movie season is here

Summer is known for its huge box office releases and sequels, and with “Spider-Man 3” and “Shrek the Third” already out, the season is well upon us. FYI gives you a glimpse at the releases you should know about.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ (May 25)

This movie picks up where “Dead Man’s Chest” left off. Once Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Kiera Knightley) free Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from Davy Jones’ Locker, they flee to Singapore in hopes of losing the Flying Dutchman and locker, only to be confronted by a devilishly cunning Chinese pirate (Chow Yun-Fat).

‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ (June 8)

The all-star cast of George Clooney, Brad Bitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle and Bernie Mac is joined by movie icon Al Pacino and newcomer Ellen Barkin in this third installment of the Ocean’s series.

‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ (June 15)

The Fantastic Four are back, only this time they will have more than one adversary to contend with. This film introduces the Silver Surfer, a misunderstood alien life-form on a mission of destruction. Our heroic team doesn’t consider going down without a fight and attempts to defeat the Surfer. While our foursome is busy with the Surfer, the nefarious Dr. Doom returns to concoct a viciously evil plan.

‘Evan Almighty’ (June 22)

First there was “Bruce Almighty,” now it’s Evan Baxter’s turn in “Evan Almighty.” After being laid off from the news station, Evan Baxter is down on his luck. God intervenes and calls for Evan to build an ark in order to be humanity’s hope before an impending flood.

‘Live Free or Die Hard’ (June 27)

You just can’t kill a thing that works! Bruce Willis is back in yet another installment of the “Die Hard” movies. John McClane (Willis) faces off against an Internet terrorist organization bent on bringing down the U.S. government.

‘Ratatouille’ (June 29)

Pixar hits home with this fun-loving, family movie. Remy (voice of Patton Oswalt) wishes to be a world-renowned chef. There’s only one problem – Remy is a rat living under a fancy Parisan restaurant.

‘Transformers’ (July 4)

Finally the popular cartoon comes to life on Independence Day! This is a basic story of good vs. evil as the heroic Autobots take on the dastardly Decepticons. This live-action movie presents these robots as they land on Earth and fight for Energon, their most valued power source – as those born in the ’80s may remember.

‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ (July 13)

Harry Potter is in his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft. He returns to the magical school after a summer away only to find a new witch is now in control of Hogwarts.

‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry’ (July 20′

Chuck (Adam Sandler), a firefighter, runs into some problems with naming his children the beneficiaries to his life insurance policy. In an act of desperation, he asks his best friend Larry (Kevin James) to sign some papers as his homosexual lover.

‘The Simpsons Movie’ (July 27)

Everyone’s favorite yellow family finally hits the big screen. Even though the movie’s plotline has yet to be released, the multitude of trailers reveal numerous satirical scenes for which the Simpsons are well known.

‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ (August 3)

Super-spy Jason Bourne, still living with amnesia, is determined to figure out who he is in one last adventure. While evading the CIA, Bourne spars with a mysterious figure from his past who just happens to have the same training as Bourne.

‘Rush Hour 3 (August 10)

Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan team up once again in a comical cop movie. This time they’ll travel to Paris to take down the crime family, the Triads.
