Whether you’re an avid golfer, or want to take up the game of golf for the first time, the summer months provide an excellent chance to work on your game. The Ames area offers four different public courses – two 18-hole and two nine-hole courses – for golfers of all skill levels. As a student, try to take advantage of the special rates to save a little cash. Many of the courses offer a student discount, and most offer club rentals for beginners. Standard attire for most courses is a collared shirt and khaki pants. All of the courses – with the exception of The Oaks – require a tee time, so you will want to make sure and call ahead a day or so in advance to get a favorable time.
