The bad boys of Chevelle are at it again, releasing their latest album “Vena Sera.” The album is filled with the hard-edged rock Chevelle has been known for since the beginning, continuing the self-consistency of the band and their sound. Although they keep true to their sound, the album is a bit lacking on the hit singles side of the board. Comparing this release to prior releases, such as “Wonder What’s Next” and “This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In,” “Vena Sera” doesn’t carry the same multiple-hit weight as the former albums that carried songs such as “Send the Pain Below,” “The Red,” “Comfortable Liar,” “The Clincher” and their big hit “Vitamin R.”

Although the album isn’t loaded with as many catchy hits as the former albums, Chevelle fans will still appreciate the talent put into the album and will surely find a few secret favorites of their own. A personal favorite, clinging to the sound of the catchy hits from the past albums, would be “Well Enough Alone,” which has been receiving an endless amount of time on the airwaves, and fueling the popularity of the band and their latest release. This is definitely an album worth checking out, and it may be one to pull out a few songs to put on a playlist of greats, instead of just throwing the CD in and hitting shuffle.
