The information in this log comes from the Ames Police Department. All those accused of violating the law are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

March 1

  • A vehicle that left the scene struck cars owned by Ashley Barr and Christopher Allen. The investigation is continuing.
  • Two sets of found keys were placed into secure storage until the owners can be identified.

March 2

  • Vehicles driven by Hongying Qi and Min Xu were involved in a property damage collision. n A window was damaged while a vehicle was being unlocked.

March 3

  • Officers assisted a resident who had injured his hand. The individual was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center for treatment.
  • Lucas Fatka, 19, 3304 Birch Hall, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated.
  • Jeffrey Peterson, 21, 221 Sheldon Ave. apt. #8, was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
  • Ryan Darnell-Foster Edmondsen, 20, 3035 Buchanan Hall, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was subsequently released on citation.

March 4

  • Steven Walker, 22, 320 Hillcrest Ave. apt. #27, was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
  • Eric Solomon Thompson, 24, 3917 Tripp St. apt. #4, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated.
  • Melissa Kay Arneson, 26, of West Des Moines, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated.
  • A staff member reported damage to a window pane.
  • Casey Bothwell, 8261 Willow Hall, reported damage to a vehicle window.
  • A student officer observed damage to a vehicle window.
  • Officers and firefighters responded to an alarm at Gilman Hall. A small fire had already been extinguished upon their arrival.
  • A snow sculpture that had been built on top of a car fell onto a nearby vehicle, causing damage to the latter.
  • Officers mediated a civil dispute regarding a borrowed laptop computer that had accumulated late fees.
