FEEDBACK: Student affairs directors bid adieu
March 27, 2007
As the directors of student affairs we pride ourselves in representing students in a sincere manner by serving on various university committees that affect students’ daily lives.
We feel this is a valuable part of our position because student life drives this campus and we make it our priority to ensure that student life is considered in important decisions.
In addition to representing students at the university level, we have also strived to create events and opportunities to enhance students’ experience at Iowa State.
This includes reaching out to students in creative outlets such the GSB tailgate at the Nebraska football game.
We feel it is important to meet students where they are and not wait for them to come to us. Another event was free GSB ice skating in conjunction with the annual Winter Festival.
This was the first year that Winterfest was a student-run event and we also expanded the celebration from a one-day to a three-day event.
Our time on GSB has taught us many valuable lessons. These include planning large-scale events, communicating with a diverse student population and learning to approach situations with an open mind.
As graduating seniors our experience has given us tools that we can use in the future. We encourage every student to get involved and go beyond the classroom.
