March 5

  • A parent of a resident reported sugar water had been poured into a vehicle fuel tank.
  • A staff member reported receiving a counterfeit $10 bill.
  • A found checkbook was placed into secure storage until the owner can be contacted.
  • A staff member reported finding an individual asleep in a bathroom. Richard Kern, 61, of Des Moines, was subsequently arrested and charged with public intoxication.

March 6

  • Travis Nissen, 24, of Boone, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated.
  • A vehicle that left the scene struck a car owned by Yonghai Chai.
  • Brian Boettcher reported the theft of a cellular telephone.

March 7

  • Benjamin Tharp, 21, of Des Moines, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated.
  • Vehicles driven by Rajeev Arora and Dennis Jordan were involved in a property damage collision.
  • An abandoned bicycle was placed into secure storage.
  • A found credit card was placed into secure storage.
