Johnson ties freshman record for most hits, but Cyclones drop a pair to Texas A&M

Freshman first baseman Alex Johnson tied the freshman record for hits in a season Sunday with 28 games remaining in the season, but the Cyclones (17-24, 0-2 Big 12) lost game two of their weekend series with No. 3 ranked Texas A&M 8-0. The Cyclones also lost to the Aggies and two-time reigning Big 12 player of the year Amanda Scarborough 4-1. After 41 straight road games, Iowa State opens the home portion of its schedule Wednesday with a doubleheader with the University of Northern Iowa Panthers, starting at 1 p.m. at the Southwest Athletic Complex.
