FEEDBACK: GSB finance requests student community involvement
March 27, 2007
This has been a very successful year for GSB finance. One of GSB’s major tasks is to allocate approximately $1.5 million that comes from student activity fees back to student organizations, services and a wide range of campus events. Some great groups and events are funded with this money.
More than 130 student groups and services were recently allocated funds through GSB’s Regular Allocation process. These groups include the Iowa State Daily, ISUtv, KURE 88.5 FM, more than 40 sports clubs and more than 15 international groups. Funds through regular allocations were also given to on-campus services such as Student Legal Services, ISU Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic, ISU Financial Counseling Clinic and ITC.
GSB funds are also allocated to non-profit agencies in the Ames area that serve students. These services include assault and battery care at ACCESS, legal services from the Legal Aid Society of Story County, child care through many agencies including University Community Childcare and many other services. These funds are used to directly decrease students’ cost to receive these services.
If you are interested in being involved in this process, there are many opportunities for students to serve next year on the committees that allocate these funds. For any questions about the GSB financial process or how to receive funding, contact the GSB finance director at [email protected].
