With all the hype of spring break around the corner, many students are getting ready by making sure they are golden tan for a week of fun. But whether one is tanning for a week of fun or just to keep a golden glow, Ames has something new to offer.

Fusion Tanning, 2515 Chamerberlain, opened its doors to the students of Iowa State on February 9. The owner, Randy Tran, also has a salon named Salon Fusion located in West Des Moines, and there will be another opening in Clive during spring 2007.

Tran said Fusion Tanning offers all high-level tanning in both vertical and horizontal beds, as well as sunless tanning and an oxygen bar.

According to www.salonfusion.biz, oxygen bars can be beneficial because oxygen improves alertness, concentration and memory, it detoxifies blood and boosts the immune system.

It can also improve the metabolic process and aid in weight loss, replenish energy stores, slow down the aging process, alleviate headaches and hangovers and improve tanning results.

The oxygen bar also features a variety of aromas, Tran said. Special features Fusion Tanning offers are iPod/MP3 hookups in beds. Membership at Fusion Tanning offers other benefits to the customer, such as discount tanning services, 50 percent off tanning products and 20 percent off hair products and services at Salon Fusion in Des Moines.

Tran said as a promotion to make “tanning fun” they will host tanning after dark, which will have free food and drinks, free oxygen bar and free lotion shots along with contests and giveaways.
