Construction starts, finishes across campus
December 11, 2006
As fall semester comes to a close, some construction projects in and around the ISU campus are nearing completion while others are entering new phases of construction.
Some of the larger projects include renovations to Coover Hall, Morrill Hall and the Memorial Union and construction of new facilities such as the Hixson-Lied Student Success Center, Alumni Center, Dairy Farm and additions to the Veterinary Medicine building.
The Hixson-Lied Student Success Center is expected to be ready for use by the beginning of second semester and work on Morrill Hall is expected to be completed by March.
Dean McCormick, assistant director of construction services for the Department of Facilities Planning and Management, is satisfied with the progress of all the construction efforts on campus.
“We have a lot going on, a couple hundred projects in planning, design or construction,” McCormick said. “In construction, everything has its own challenges, but it seems to be going well.”
Students interested in keeping track of these projects can check their progress via webcam on the Facilities Planning and Management Web site at Fpm.iastate.edu. All of the following comments on projects are by McCormick.
