While most students went home for fall break, sophomore Kiel Uhl traveled to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20.

Uhl, attending the national meet for the second time, placed 121st out of 250 runners in the race. His 10K time was 32:46.9.

Big 12 rival Colorado, took home the team title, edging out pre-race favorite and defending champion Wisconsin. Both teams placed three runners in the top 15, but the fourth and fifth runners for Colorado ran well to capture the team its third NCAA title since 2001. Other Big 12 teams Texas and Oklahoma State finished in seventh and 10th place, respectively.

Iowa State has won the NCAA team title twice – in 1989 and 1994. Current head coach Corey Ihmels, a two-time cross country All-American, was a member of the 1994 championship team.

BYU senior Josh Rohatinsky won the individual title with a time of 30:44.9.
