Bryan’s Football Picks
November 9, 2006
Each week, Bryan Hooyman, the Daily’s football fanatic, previews local football games not featuring the Cyclones. Hooyman holds a 21-12 record this season and went 2-1 last week.
No.18 Wisconsin Badgers (9-1)ÿat Iowa Hawkeyes (6-4) – The Badgers have lost their only game on the road, while the Hawkeyes have only managed to stay 4-2 at Kinnick Stadium — losing to at least one team they should have dominated at home (3-7 Northwestern Wildcats). With the Badgers’ steamrolling toward a possible seven-game win streak, I predict Wisconsin to run away with this game.
Bryan’s pick: WISCONSIN
Drake Bulldogs (8-2) at Jacksonville Dolphins (4-5) – The Dolphins are on a two-game slide, while the Bulldogs are on a two-game winning streak. The Bulldogs owe some of this success to cornerback Paul Collins, who has been named Pioneer Football League’s player of the week by intercepting the ball three times against Davidson, which tied a school record. Expect the Bulldogs’ defense to take this win.
Bryan’s pick: BULLDOGS
Northern Iown Panthers (6-3) at Southern Illinois Salukis (6-3) – In this Gateway Conference battle, both teams are trying to stay injury free for the final two games of the season. This will be the Panthers’ last game in front of their home crowd this season, so “Purple Pride” will be high for this game. I expect the Panthers’ emotions to run high, almost too high, in a close victory for Northern Iowa.
Bryan’s pick: PANTHERS
