A two-car collision ended with one person in the hospital at approximately 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

A westbound red Jeep Wrangler driven by Corey Takes, freshman in pre-business, hit a southbound silver Honda Accord driven by Jessica Spooner, graduate student in educational leadership and policy studies, that was turning east.

Spooner was attempting to turn left onto Lincoln Way from Morrill Drive when Takes failed to stop at a red light on Lincoln Way and collided with her. Spooner then traveled approximately 100 yards, through a hand railing and stopped on the front lawn of the Memorial Lutheran Church and Student Center at 2228 Lincoln Way.

She was later transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries sustained during the accident. Takes was uninjured.

Adam McPherson, of the Ames City Police Department, said they are still investigating the accident but no drugs or alcohol were involved.
