LETTER: Smoking policy benefits students, faculty
November 7, 2006
The ISU Smoking Policy Task Force is moving forward with a recommended policy change. The draft of this new policy prohibits smoking within 25 feet of building entrances, windows, air intakes, courtyards and other areas. The purpose of this policy is to limit the health hazards associated with secondhand smoke and will affect all students, faculty, staff and visitors on campus.
The draft policy is open for discussion through Nov. 30, and it is essential that students voice their opinions on this issue. For information on the policy and potential changes, visit http://policy.iastate.edu/policy/smoking/20061101/.
There will also be two public forums regarding the policy change. The forums will take place Nov. 14 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Cardinal Room and from 7 to 8 p.m. in the South Ball Room of the Memorial Union.
Also, to submit feedback to the committee, please email [email protected].
