Record breaking night for Meyer
October 1, 2006
ISU quarterback Bret Meyer became Iowa State’s all-time career pass completions leader on Saturday night. He now has 470 career completions, overtaking Alex Espinoza’s (1984-1986) 454 completions for first place. Meyer is now 10th on the Big 12’s career list. Here are some more details about his performance on Saturday night:
-Meyer completed a career high 82.7 percent (24 of 29) of his passes on Saturday. He has completed at least half of his passes in 23 of 29 games in his ISU career.
-Meyer’s 323 yards passing against Northern Iowa extends his school career passing yards record to 5,978 yards. The 323 yards passing tonight is his third-best effort (371 at Texas A&M last season is his career best), and is his fifth career 300-yard game.
-This is the seventh time in his career that Meyer has completed at least 20 passes in a game, tying him with Todd Bandhauer (1995-98) for second place on the 20-completions-in-a-game list. In first place is a tie between Seneca Wallace (2001-02) and Alex Espinoza (1984-86), who each completed 20 passes or more in a game eight times.
