Drake Fall Classic gives team chance to tune up
August 31, 2006
The ISU women’s cross country team opens the season with the Drake Fall Classic at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Ewing Park in Des Moines.
The Cyclones’ plan to use this meet as preparation for their upcoming meets and to get the season off to a good start.
Coach Dick Lee said this meet is not really focused on where the team finishes.
“We are going to keep this meet real low key,” Lee said.

Lee also said this meet is just another date on the schedule.
“We don’t even really talk to the kids about racing for this meet,” Lee said.
The Cyclones did not run in this event last year, but they did in 2004. Senior Meredith McKean finished fifth at that meet.
The Cyclone’s next meet is the ISU Open at the ISU cross country course, just west of the Towers residence halls. Sophomore Lisa Koll won the meet last year. It will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 9.
