The Cyclones return 13 letter winners this season, losing only six from 2005.

That’s a first

The Cyclones qualified for the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament in 2005 losing to Portland, the eventual champion, in the first round, 5-0.

She said it

“[This season] I expect nothing but a ring on our finger,” junior Erin Witte said. “Because we were so close last season, it hurts to look back and see if we would have done this different or done that different, we would have had the championship.”

Big 12 hunt

In 2005, Iowa State finished tied for second place in the Big 12 Conference with a record of 6-3-1 (11-7-3 overall).

“Fresh” talent

The Cyclones brought in nine freshman for a 2006 recruiting class that was tabbed 26th best in the nation by Soccer Buzz Magazine.
