Dos and Don’ts: Free tips for fitting in as a freshman

As a freshman arriving at an immense, heavily populated university such as Iowa State, traipsing across campus can be an exercise in patience and nerves.

What you may not know, however, is that there is a certain set of rules that will have you not become the object of snickers and eye rolls.

To ease you into this process, FYI has graciously compiled some of the more important rules that will have you fitting in and throwing away your campus map in no time.

And the best part – this advice is free, a very important college concept.

Conversely, Bluto, in the college classic “Animal House,” once poignantly said, “My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.” If Jon Belushi is your weathervane of morality, you might not need this advice.

But for those freshmen that don’t strive for a 0.0 GPA, here are some tips to play it cool like Miles Davis.
