Hotel executive possibly connected to junior center

Iowa State reportedly hired private university investigators to evaluate the relationship between Jiri Hubalek, ISU junior center, and Leon Schade, Marshalltown hotel executive.

Schade allegedly loaned Hubalek a car during the player’s time at Marshalltown Community College, before he transferred to Iowa State.

According to the Des Moines Register, Schade loaned Hubalek the family’s 1992 Chrysler with Hawkeye license plates to Hubalek and bought the player a pair of pants before the Cyclones left for a trip to Hawaii last season.

Schade said he purchased ISU season football tickets in the ’80s, then gave Iowa State a donation, which according to NCAA definition, could make him an ISU athletics booster. Schade, who currently holds University of Iowa football season tickets, told the Des Moines Register he did not do anything to get Hubalek to attend Iowa State.
