Cyclone athletes headed to national track meet

Six ISU track team members are headed to the NCAA Track and Field National Championships.

Senior David Rotich qualified Saturday for nationals in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:43.87, earning him a third-place finish in the NCAA Regional Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas.

Senior Sara Boisen qualified for her first national meet in the 400 hurdles with a time of 59.75, finishing in third place in the regional meet.

The men’s team will send four Cyclones total to nationals, including Rotich, Tony Douglas in the long jump, Neil Hines in the decathlon and Chase Madison in the discus.

Boisen and senior Erica Lynn, who qualified for the heptathlon, will represent the women’s team at nationals.

The men’s and women’s teams will compete in the national meet June 7 to 10 in Sacramento, Calif.
