Why you should see it: The small Western town of Big Whisky is shaken when a prostitute is murdered by some cowboys. Sheriff “Little Bill,” played by Eastwood, tries to keep order, but the other prostitutes are dissatisfied with his justice, so they put a bounty on the cowboys. The sheriff is a reformed gunslinger who reverts to his old ways when he hears about the money and leaves to commit one more murder. Eastwood’s critically acclaimed film explores the fine line between being a villain and a hero in the legendary Old West.

Why you should see it: Jonathan Larson’s rock opera garnered him a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award in 1996. Columbus directs this film version of Larson’s story, based on Puccini’s opera “La Boheme.” “Rent” covers one year in the lives of New York bohemians who struggle internally and with each other as they deal with the AIDS epidemic.
