Wrestler arrested at bar after incident Thursday

An ISU wrestler was arrested after an incident at a bar in Campustown early Thursday morning.
Christopher Ewing, 121 Beach Ave. apt. #104, redshirt junior on the ISU wrestling team and communication studies major, was arrested after an incident at Sips, 124 Welch Ave., after officers were dispatched at 1:30 a.m.
Ames Police Department Cmdr. Randy Kessel stated that Ames Police arrested Ewing on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Police reports document that Ewing had a strong odor of alcohol and waived the rights to a chemical test and admitted to being drunk after being involved in a fight.
“In reference to disorderly conduct, he reportedly engaged in fighting in public and struck a Sips employee,” Kessel said.
Representatives from Sips and ISU athletics were unavailable for comment.
Greg Pfiffner, junior in finance, also of 121 Beach Ave. apt. #104, was also charged in the incident.
Both men were committed to the Ames Police station at 1:47 a.m. Thursday and discharged at 2:25 a.m.
