NIN to perform at Wells Fargo Arena

Industrial rock powerhouse Nine Inch Nails has remained at the forefront of its genre for more than 15 years. Much to the delight of its many Iowa fans, the band will be bringing its infamous live performance to Des Moines at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wells Fargo Arena.

According to the arena’s Web site, tickets are still on sale for $36 each for reserved seats. Both reserved seats and general admission floor tickets can be purchased at the Iowa Events Center Ticket Office, any Dahl’s Food Mart, online at www.dahlstickets.com or charged by phone at 1-866-55-DAHLS.

NIN earned a Grammy nomination in the “Best Hard Rock Performance” category in 2005. Previously, the band has won two Grammy awards for “Best Metal Performance,” for “Wish” in 1993 and for “Happiness in Slavery” in 1996, but the band doesn’t appear to be a big fan of the awards ceremony.

“The Grammys make me hate music, and certainly everyone in the ass-licking music industry,” said NIN front man Trent Reznor in his Feb. 8 blog update.

According to the band’s Web site, its newest album, “With Teeth,” topped at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2005 and the band’s entire 2005 club tour sold out in less than 10 minutes, with tickets selling on eBay and other sources for more than $200.

NIN was unavailable for comment regarding its upcoming performance.
