ISU tennis falls to Wisconsin
February 13, 2006
The Cyclones found a few bright spots against Wisconsin, but they were not enough as the Badgers overpowered them 6-1 Friday in Madison.
The first belonged to redshirt junior Eve Soriano, who recorded the first singles match win of the season for the Cyclones in a return to singles play against Wisconsin’s Erin Jobe. She took the match 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Eve scored the lone point for the Cyclones Friday.
The doubles team of junior Danielle Uscinski and sophomore Chrissy Derouin won their second consecutive doubles match of the season by a score of 8-3. Derouin and Uscinski are undefeated on the season.
reshman Kara Hickey continued to play her opponents closely, pushing her match to three sets. She lost the deciding set 8-10.
Uscinski played a tough first set and forced a tiebreaker, but only scored two points in her match after forcing the tiebreak.
The Badgers had dropped their previous three matches to top-15 programs, and proceeded to take out their frustration on the Cyclones.
The Cyclones look for a change of fortune of their own when they travel to Texas A&M on Feb. 24, the second stop on their three-match road trip.
