LETTER: Experience in clubs a plus for Faber slate
February 27, 2006
With the upcoming Government of the Student Body elections, the ballot is full of quality candidates hoping to change GSB for the better.
However, when voting for GSB leaders, I look for just that – leaders, and leaders with a record of success. Anyone can be a member of a certain college or club, but only a few can influence the direction of one of these organizations. GSB Vice President candidate Sara Faber has done just that.
As the president of one of the largest and most active clubs not only in the College of Agriculture, but also at Iowa State, I have had the opportunity to work with Faber and witness her leadership skills firsthand. Through numerous events and activities, her involvement is evident.
Faber’s open mind and sincere dedication show in all the work she does. Simply put, she leaves the activities with which she has been involved stronger than they were when she started, while bringing out the best in her peers through her leadership.
Although Faber may not posses the most GSB experience on the ballot, a new outlook may be just what our student government needs. Past performance tends to predict future success, and I am certain Faber’s fresh viewpoint coupled with an open mind full of new ideas, will allow the student government to achieve their goal of connecting with students outside of GSB.
I plan to vote for the GSB executive candidates that best represent what GSB should be – successful leaders working for the improvement of the student body.
I invite you to visit www.jensenfaber.com, to learn more about two people who will be shaping the future of your student government.
I hope you will join with me in voting for Emily Jensen and Sara Faber from March 3 to 6 at www.vote.iastate.edu.
