Jason Berryman cited, Montgomery arrested at club early Sunday
January 30, 2006
One former and one current ISU football player had run-ins with the law at Club Element early Sunday morning.
Former ISU receiver Jamaul Montgomery was arrested for disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor, and current player Jason Berryman was cited for being on the premises underage at Club Element, 2401 Chamberlain St. It was not known at the time of print if the incidents are related.
Montgomery, 24, redshirted his freshman year in 1999, and played at Iowa State from 2000 to 2003.
Berryman, 20, was cited for being on the premises underage, which was listed as an alcohol offense. No arrest was made.
Berryman missed the 2004 football season while serving 258 days in jail for theft and assault convictions. Football coach Dan McCarney announced on Aug. 5, 2005, that he would reinstate Berryman, who worked his way from the scout team and eventually started for the Cyclones in the 2005 season.
Berryman was the defensive Most Valuable Player in the 2005 EV1.net Houston Bowl. He recorded 12 tackles and 5 sacks in the game.
On Friday Brice Beck, ISU redshirt freshman quarterback, was arrested and charged for operating while intoxicated, and was transported to the Story County
Justice Center. No further details were available.
ISU Media Relations had no comment, and ISU coach Dan McCarney could not be reached for comment.
