Gallick still undefeated after team’s dual wins

The eighth-ranked ISU wrestling team picked up a pair of dual victories in Tempe, Ariz. on Sunday.

The Cyclones (7-2) defeated UC Davis (2-3, 1-1 Pac 10) 28-18 to start the afternoon, then held on for a 26-23 victory over No. 19 Arizona State (4-4, 2-0).

Jesse Sundell (133) recorded his fifth and sixth pins of the season, turning two reversals into falls to anchor the Cyclone victories.

Second-ranked Nate Gallick (141) stayed undefeated on the season, beating UC Davis’ Derek Moore by injury default. Eighth-ranked Travis Paulson had also won both of his matches, including a 3-1 decision over 10th-ranked Patrick Patsch.

The three grapplers were the only Cyclones to record two wins. Trent Paulson (141) sat out his third-straight meet due to illness.

The Cyclones wrestle this Saturday and Sunday at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Pairings will be announced Tuesday.
