ISU soccer coach arrested for OWI
December 12, 2005
ISU soccer coach Rebecca Hornbacher will face disciplinary action after being arrested Thursday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, ISU athletics director Jamie Pollard said in a press release Friday.
Hornbacher will receive an official letter of reprimand, and will be on probation for the next year. A $9,000 salary increase will be retracted. She is also required to receive alcohol counseling and volunteer in the community.
“I am extremely disappointed in Rebecca,” Pollard said in the release. “Our coaches are role models for our student-athletes and are held to a high standard of behavior in the community.”
She was also arrested for operating while intoxicated in Mills County in 2001, according to Iowa Courts Online.
“There are no excuses,” Hornbacher said in the release. “My actions were unacceptable. I have let down Iowa State University, my student-athletes and their parents.
“I understand and accept the disciplinary actions and take full responsibility for my mistake.”
