Iowa State will be without one of its most important players against Texas Saturday afternoon.

The redshirt sophomore forward has been suspended for the Texas game and did not make the trip due to a violation of team rules. Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register reported the news first.

This is Lard’s second suspension of the 2018-19 season. He missed the month of November after being away from the team during the summer at a wellness center, and he made his season debut against North Dakota State on Dec. 3, 2018.

Lard is averaging 6.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13 minutes per game this season, coming off the bench after starting 16 games in the 2017-18 season.

Iowa State takes on Texas at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
