Senator Kamala Harris arrives at the Soup Supper. Sen. Harris met with community members before giving a speech. “I think we all know we are at an inflection point in the history of out country, this is a moment in time that is requiring us all collectively and individually to look in a mirror and ask a question and that question is ‘who are we?’,” Sen. Harris said. The Story County Democrats held their annual Soup Supper at the Collegiate United Methodist Church on Feb. 23.

Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris announced Thursday her campaign will be hosting weekend-long organizing trainings on Iowa’s college campuses, including Iowa State.

The event will provide students an opportunity to learn more about the Harris campaign, political organizing and participating in Iowa caucuses.

“Our campaign is working to organize young Iowans who are the future of the country,” Will Dubbs, Kamala Harris Iowa State Director, said in a press release. “I am proud that we will be able to utilize the excitement around Kamala’s campaign heading into the critical summer months.”

“Camp Kamala” will take place April 16-18, and applications are open until April 13. Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Along with Iowa State, the campaign is hosting events at the University of Iowa, Drake, the University of Northern Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College.
