A stabbing in north Ames left one man dead and police still investigating.

Ames Police responded to a 9-1-1 call Friday afternoon to find a man suffering from stab wounds near the 2700 block of Stange Road, said Ames Police Sgt. Brian Braymen.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and the man was transported to the Mary Greeley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, Braymen said.

Ames police could not comment on the individual’s identification or if they had any suspects.

“I don’t think the individual was a student and if he was, he was an adult student,” Braymen said.

Ames Police are investigating the incident with the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
