A man in north Ames died as a result of stab wounds Friday. He was found after Ames Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at his address.

At 12:21 p.m., Ames Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at 2730 Stange Rd. and found an unresponsive white male suffering from stab wounds.

Ames Police Sgt. Brian Braymen said Friday that the caller hung up, and police were unable to make contact when responding to the call.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and the man was transported to the Mary Greeley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, Braymen said.

“The case is still under investigation, and I’m assuming that Monday we’ll probably get more information,” Sgt. Geoff Huff said Sunday.

According to a Friday press release, no foul play has been determined and Ames Police are investigating the incident with the State Division of Criminal Investigation.

Police are withholding the man’s name until his family members are notified. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny on Saturday, police said.
