One of two men involved in an attempted robbery and stabbing in Campustown last April pled guilty to one count of assault Monday and rescheduled the date on which he will plead to a conspiracy charge.

Shayne Wiesenhofer, 20, 129 Wilmoth Ave.,appeared before Story County Judge William Pattinson to enter a guilty plea for one count of assault causing bodily injury, which is a serious misdemeanor, and one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, which is a class B felony.

The charges came after an April 9 incident in which Wiesenhofer, along with Jeffrey Scott Lundgren, 22, 3219 Ellis St. assaulted two other men, Nick Loffredo and Luke LeClere. Wiesenhofer and Lundgren assaulted Loffredo, then attempted to steal his backpack, which contained marijuana.

Both men then assaulted LeClere, who stabbed them in self-defense.

Police were called when Lundgren entered Kum & Go, 203 Welch Ave. with blood on his shirt, saying that he had been stabbed.

Police were also sent to ISU Parking Lot 60 where they found Wiesenhofer laying between two cars.

Wiesenhofer and Lundgren met Loffredo and LeClere at a party that night, police said.

Wiesenhofer did not describe to the judge the events regarding this guilty plea and was therefore unable to finish the guilty plea for the count of conspiracy. The assault charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,500 fine.

The conspiracy charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, with a maximum fine of $7,500.

A sentencing hearing for Wiesenhofer has not yet been scheduled.

A sentencing hearing for Lundgren is scheduled for July 25.
