Softball team gets new coach
July 25, 2005
Stacy Gemeinhardt has been named head softball coach at Iowa State, athletics director Bruce Van De Velde announced last Tuesday.
“Stacy will bring great expertise to the head coaching position with her successful experience as a head coach,” Van De Velde said in a statement. “We look forward to having Stacy as a part of the athletic department and building a successful softball program together.”
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach at Iowa State University,” Gemeinhardt said. “When I visited the university, I was very impressed by Bruce Van De Velde and Calli Sanders and would like to thank them for this opportunity. It is exciting to be back in the Big 12 and I look forward to working with the Iowa State softball team.”
“Stacy has all of the qualities we were looking for in our next head coach,” said senior associate athletics director Calli Sanders. “Her ability to turn a program into an immediate national contender, her success as a Big 12 athlete and her dedication to both the student-athletes and to the game of softball will all contribute to her fine leadership of Cyclone softball. We are fortunate to have attracted her to our program, as she is certain to have a successful Division I softball coaching career.”
