Ames City Council grants request for kegs at event

The following issues were discussed at Ames City Council meeting Tuesday:

* The council authorized a $35,000 forgivable loan to Swiss agribusiness Syngentato to locate a facility in Ames. The loan comes from the city’s $340,000 Community Investment account. A matching $35,000 was raised through private donations by the Economic Development Commission. Approximately 45 jobs could be created by the company.

* An award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies was given to the City of Ames for the city’s water treatment plant.

* Several requests for the Midnight Madness event on July 9 were granted, including a motion to approve tapping of seven kegs with a maximum of 30 kegs during the post-race event.
