Athletic director chosen for new NCAA position
June 27, 2005
ISU athletics director Bruce Van De Velde has been named by the NCAA Championships and Competition Cabinet to serve on the NCAA Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee, which licenses and oversees all NCAA postseason football championships in Divisions I, II and III.
“We certify and license all postseason bowl games,” Van De Velde said. “The committee reviews bowl budgets, attendance, advertising and various other financial aspects of each bowl game.”
The committee also reviews and considers applicants for new bowl games, Van De Velde said.
“We will be looking at new bowl games this fall in Indianapolis,” he said.
Van De Velde said the committee meets twice a year in the spring and fall.
Van De Velde is also on the NCAA Football Issues Committee and will continue his work there.
