LETTER: Males naturally loud, egotistical morons
March 28, 2005
I am happy for Karla Hardy (“The male way of life: All balls,” March 25). She finally figured out one of the most outstanding characteristics of males: competition. There is a reason men and women are different, and you can thank testosterone for it. Men have always been known to push the envelope — breaking records and advancing anything that can be advanced. It’s what we do. Men just seem to have a knack for doing everything better than before. There is nothing wrong with that. In an age of feminism, it seems men have been castrated and brainwashed to think it is not socially acceptable to be proud, barbaric and victorious. News flash: Men love the joy of victory that comes at a price of trial and error or suffering and pain. Accomplishments are much more enjoyable when you really had to put some effort into them.
Hardy has provided me with valuable insight into my own little “game” of life. I sometimes do have a tendency to go over the top. It is just the way males express their emotions, through actions and bragging rights. Females just need to recognize this and go along with the game. But don’t criticize men for something that is naturally in their blood.
