LETTER: Alliger/Walter have realistic solutions
March 2, 2005
Tuition, tuition, tuition. I am sick of hearing promises from Government of the Student Body executive slates about lowering tuition increases. Higher education funding is a legislative decision. Enrollment dropped by 1,000 students last year and about 500 students the year before that. That loss of $4.2 million (assuming all the students are Iowa residents) impacts tuition and funding for faculty. The Alliger and Walter campaign addresses this problem and has purposed solutions which are realistic, unlike some past and present executive slates. Through more student-facilitated recruitment, I believe we can get our numbers back up and keep our tuition from skyrocketing and keep our quality faculty members at Iowa State. Make sure to Vote Alliger and Walter on March 7 and 8 and check out their comprehensive plan at simplifygsb.com
