The information in the log comes from ISU Police Department records provided to the Daily. All those accused of violating the law are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

March 12

  • The department received a series of intrusion alarms in the tunnel system in Central Campus. The following were subsequently located and cited for criminal trespass: Brooks Nelson, 19, 217 Ash Ave.; Andrea Kemp, 19, 4068 Elm Hall; and Lee Beck, 20, 407 Welch Ave.
  • Trevor Shepperd, 20, 336 Linden Hall, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and underage possession of alcohol in Linden Hall. He was transported to the Story County Jail.
  • Julanda Brown, 23, Des Moines, was cited for driving under suspension in Lot 100.
  • The department received a tunnel system alarm in Forker Building. Charles Feldmann, 21, 2263 Friley Hall, and Ian Guffy, 18, 3015 Buchanan Hall, were subsequently cited for criminal trespass and interference with official acts.

March 13

  • Richard Evans, 23, 428 Stonehaven Drive #20, was cited for driving under revocation at Hayward Avenue and Lincoln Way.
  • Jarrod Siegel, 1222 Frederiksen Court, reported the theft of an Ohio license plate in Lot 112. Officers believe a Colorado license plate was stolen from another vehicle.
  • Alex Nelson, 3436 Frederiksen Court, reported the theft of an Illinois license plate in Lot 112.
  • Ellen Barnett, Rochester, Minn., reported the theft of a Minnesota license plate in Lot S8.
  • Jennifer Thornburg, 51, 419 Hawthorne Ave, was cited for driving under suspension at Hyland Avenue and Ross Road.

March 14

  • Christopher Brown, 23, 821 Northwestern Ave., was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated at Mortensen Parkway and State Avenue. He was transported to the Story County Jail.
  • ISU staff reported damage to two vehicles in Lot 59E.
  • An officer reported damage to five vehicles in Lot 61.
  • An officer assisted the Department of Residence in checking on the welfare of a resident in Frederiksen Court.
  • Letitia Kenemer reported the theft of a display item from the Gallery of the Memorial Union.
  • Erin Brown, 3434 Frederiksen Court, reported the theft of a South Dakota license plate in Lot 93.
  • Jesse Oldfield, 101 Linden Hall, reported the theft of a CD player from his vehicle in Lot 54.

March 15

  • Nickolaus Makris, 26, 3205 Lettie St., was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated on South Fourth Street. He was transported to the Story County Jail.
  • Department of Residence staff reported a suspicious item in the hallway on sixth floor of Larch Hall. The item was later identified as a remote doorbell that had been installed.
  • Ames Laboratory staff reported that a suspicious package was received in the mail. The package was opened and was found to contain a drawing of an atom.
  • Tracy Appelbaum, 4237 Frederiksen Court reported the theft of a license plate at Frederiksen Court.

March 16

  • Charis Maldonado, 21, 212 Beedle Drive, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance at Greeley Street and Pearson Avenue.
  • Kevin Ross, 24, Minden, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated at State Avenue and Hayward Street. He was transported to the Story County Jail.

March 15

  • Officers and the Ames Fire Department responded to a grass fire near the disc golf course near 13th Street. An area of grass approximately 20 feet by 40 feet was burned.

March 17

  • ISU staff reported the theft of construction related equipment in the Towers Residence Association.
  • Officers found two cars in Lot 50 with windows broken. A CD case and CDs were taken from one of the vehicles.
