ISU football player Jerry Gair Jr. submitted a plea of not guilty Friday to one count of third-degree burglary and one count of second-degree theft.

This was the second time in less than a month that Gair has entered a written arraignment in the Story County Courthouse. On Feb. 14, he entered a not-guilty plea to one count of third-degree burglary.

According to court documents, Gair faces all three charges for incidents relating to two arrests that occurred Jan. 24 and Feb. 4.

Gair and fellow ISU football player Tyease Thompson were arrested after police said the two were discovered in another student’s Larch Hall dorm room Jan. 24.

ISU Police searched Gair’s vehicle that same day and found a Hewlett Packard laptop inside a black laptop case, according to court documents.

Police recorded the laptop’s serial number and checked to see if the computer had been reported stolen. At the time, no report had been made, police said.

Court records show that, on Jan. 26, the laptop was reported stolen. Police searched Gair’s vehicle again on Jan. 31 and said they didn’t find the laptop or the laptop case in the vehicle.

Gair was arrested and charged with second-degree theft and his second count of third-degree burglary Feb. 4.

Both Gair and Thompson are scheduled to appear in court April 5 for their Jan. 24 arrests. Court documents show each admitted being in the room with another person, but only Gair admitted being there with the intent to steal money.

Gair was suspended indefinitely from the ISU football team in January.
