EDITORIAL: A date to remember
March 22, 2005
If there’s a day to be complacent, it certainly isn’t Thursday, March 24, 2005.
That’s because a whole lot is happening Thursday, March 24, 2005 — two days from today.
Students have two great opportunities (unfortunately at the same time) Thursday, March 24, 2005 to be active in the community and make their voices heard on issues that could seriously affect them.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Ames Public Library, the Ames Citizens for Better Local Government will hold a meeting with city leaders to air residents’ and students’ grievances on city government, current and proposed ordinances and the relationship between students and long-term residents.
At the same time, that is, 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, there will be a town hall meeting with the Story County Board of Supervisors at the Memorial Union. This meeting may be just as important as the other, as it will give students the chance to speak about the proposed county keg registration ordinance.
Remember the date — Thursday, March 24, 2005 — it’s the date you can make your voice heard. Just pick your forum and be there.
