LETTER: Say ‘yes’ to shorter City Council terms
March 29, 2005
There is a great divide between the university and the rest of the city. In order to create “One Community” in Ames, we need to make sure that all community members are represented. Both long-term and short-term community members want to share opinions on issues affecting them.
Shortening City Council terms from four to two years will help establish “One Community” in Ames. Shortening City Council terms will make the city government more accountable, more accessible and more responsive to all community members’ needs. I urge you to vote “yes” April 5 and allow all residents to have an equal voice in city government.
